Charity Bands – Is “Making Poverty History” Going to Happen ?
I understand that you can bid for charity bands on eBay….. fine you might think if the proceeds make it to the charity its intended but what if it doesn’t ? I’ve listened to several conversations from several age groups on this new fashion to wear your charity contribution around your wrist.  But for me the fashion has taken over and the meaning got lost somewhere with the colour co-ordination issue.

Dawn French drew attention to the start of Make Poverty History by closing the Christmas episode of the TV Show Vicar of Dibley with some hard hitting film of two orphans who were abandoned in Africa after losing parents and several close family members to AIDS. How guilty do we feel – does wearing a coloured wrist band make us feel better ?

Cosmetic Surgery  Make-over Programmes or Desperate Divas ?
Just look at the TV titles – “Make Me Beautiful” “Ten Years Younger” “Cosmetic Surgery Live and worth  a mention the drama “Nip Tuck”.

Are you hooked on any of these …… maybe not but many are. But are you inspired by any of this. The degree of dissatisfaction permeating our sophisticated world in 2005 is worrying me to the point that we are on the verge of an even bigger reliance on anti-depressants and in-depth psychiatry. Don’t get me wrong I’ve watched them but I’ve found them all so scary that I’ve now switched off in search of discovering and appreciating what’s real in my world to let me manage my way through the self-confidence wobbles. Or have I got it wrong ?

  That Charles and Camilla Thing
How lovely……..the prince finally made the fairytale come true – old love, first love, rekindled love – as they settle down to married life together I wonder if they’ll feel any different about one another ? Camilla looked decidedly nervous as she tripped out of the registry office.

Marrying later in life for the first or third, fourth time it just has to be different……. But marriage still makes it official and you can stop the  fumbling introductions when you can vocalise the easily identifiable – My husband …….. albeit the heir to the British throne. OK this sounds almost cringingly cute – but security works for most human beings but I can’t wait to watch the unfurling of this  new status between the long term lovers……. I think it could be very interesting -

"After being born & raised in England, I do not condone the way Diana was treated. Why has a future
King decided it was alright to use another human being that way.
And that is what the royal family did to Diana used her to populate the line of the throne."
